Mindful Consulting offers an array of consultative services designed to strengthen an organization’s communication and marketing effectiveness at a competitive price. The firm offers specific expertise in higher education, corporate communication and organizations with significant media relations and constituent communications needs, but welcomes clients from all business and non-profit sectors.

Services can be secured on an hourly, project or retainer basis.

| About Mark Land

Over the course of a 35-year career Mindful Consulting principal Mark Land has carved a communications and marketing leadership arc that spans the media, corporate America and higher education.

He has served as a writer, editor, change agent, strategic partner, innovator and senior leader for a diverse collection of organizations ranging from community and metropolitan newspapers to a global Fortune 200 manufacturing leader to, for the past decade, some of the most recognizable names in higher education.

He brings nearly two decades of experience representing large, complex organizations as an institutional spokesperson and has deep experience as communications and marketing counsel to C-suite executives.  A confident and skilled communicator, Land understands how to connect with a wide range of audiences as a result of a diverse set career experiences. 

As a seasoned leader with a reputation as a collaborative teammate and honest broker, Land is adept at framing the most important issues facing complex organizations today and bringing people together to develop solutions to those challenges. 

He has helped lead organizations through times of great positive change, such as being on the ground floor of the creation of a new daily newspaper and the reorganization of the communications and marketing teams at both Indiana University and Clemson University. He also played a critical role in guiding communications and organizational strategy during some of the most challenges period in recent history, including serving as the top communications executive for a multinational Fortune 200 company during the depths of the Great Recession and as a member of Clemson’s executive leadership team during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Land, an Indiana native, earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University – Bloomington and his MBA from Columbia University. He and his wife currently reside in the Upstate region of South Carolina.
